identity
Both fun and challenging, logo design is integral to many of my projects. What follows are a few stories about identity design.
CROSSROADS COMMUNITY OUTREACH FOUNDATION
Logos suggest an encompassing community serving a wider audience.
HONG KONG ACADEMY OF MUSIC AT HAW PAR MANSION
Logo mimics the architecture of the mansion with the Chinese characters for "music" replacing second story windows. The reference to traditional paper cuts references the historical importance of the mansion in its new new use.
The logo was developed for the initial grant proposal to the Hong Kong government requesting Heritage Commission funds for re-purposing the mansion.
EOE
Logo for Crossroads School Environmental and Outdoor Education program. Letters are connected by a horizon line that together with colors suggest land and sea activities.
SUMMER AT CROSSROADS
In 2012, Crossroads School hired a design firm to come up with a new identity. From that design firm’s ideas, the school chose a bold "X" with overlapping patterns. The school then hired me to adapt the school's new identity to Summer Programs.
Below you can see my design in relationship to the new school identity (not designed by me).
ACCOMPLISH THE DREAM FOUNDATION
Accomplish the Dream Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping AB-540 and DACA students access college and succeed in higher education. www.accomplishthedream.org
SAM FRANCIS GALLERY
Two different workups for Sam Francis Gallery.
THE WEAVER GROUP
Business card front. Logo reflects client’s wish to incorporates motto “Weave Truth with Trust” into design.
ELIZABETH MANDELL MUSIC INSTITUTE
Two logo workups for client. Logo on left was ultimately chosen.
P.S. SCIENCE
Logo studies for P.S. Science, a non-profit that brings memorable science lessons to children living at or below the poverty line in Title I schools in the local area. In classrooms where science was formerly rarely if ever taught, PS Science partners with the classroom teachers to mentor and deliver impactful science learning. Client asked to incorporate visual elements of the motto “SEE, DO, KNOW” into the identity design.
